The beginning of...

My four low-impact challenges:
  1. Take shorter showers so that less water is wasted.
  2. Turn off the water when brushing teeth
  3. NO fast food/ take out to reduce wasted materials
  4. Only use recyclable bags or no bags when shopping
Today I took my first shorter shower. I was in a hurry which made this challenge not very challenging because I needed to shower quickly in order to get to school on time. So far this "challenge" has not presented itself as being challenging.

I am used to letting the water continuously run while I am brushing my teeth so I will just have to get used to having to turn the water on and off each time and only using it when I need to rinse the brush.

I wonder how much water I will actually save?

I enjoy getting pizza and Chinese food occasionally but instead of ordering take out we can make our own pizzas and reduce the amount of cardboard that is wasted.

Last night I went shopping for a few groceries after work. I decided not to use plastic bags and since I didn't have my reusable bags with me, I carried all the groceries out to my car. I think that so long as I don't buy too much I will be able to continue carrying the groceries and if I buy quite a few things, I will use my reusable bags or put it all in a grocery cart and then into my car.

I chose challenges that stretch my willingness a little because they seem practical and won't cause much disturbance to my everyday life. I didn't choose impossible challenges because if they are impossible, then they wouldn't be a challenge.

Thanks for reading, and wish me continuing luck!
