yo free stuff and cheap food

I learned a lot of good stuff this week but I think the thing that stuck out the most is learning about how well someone can budget grocery shop and furnish their apartment with free items. I was surprised by how cheaply you can get some things but I also noticed how much harder you have to work to fall within budget if you have any kind of standards at all. For me it was easy to shop for groceries when you just throw a family 64 pack of ramen noodles in the cart. It gets much harder, though, if you search for quality, variety, or eco-friendlyness. Similarly, I could furnish an apartment for free if I wanted to live in sub-human conditions but if I want something worthy of being called a home you had to look much harder. So this week gave me comfort that I could budget but also sympathy for those trying to scrape by and still looking for quality.
